![]() ![]() ![]() When you jump, you typically end up very far away from any planets or stations, so you will still need to fire up supercruise after a hyperspace jump to get to the specific location you intend to arrive at. Hyperspace is only accurate enough to take you to a random, very open area of space within your targeted star system. I haven't specifically studied up on the game's explanations for the science behind faster than light travel modes, but it seems that the ability to do so is hampered in one way or another by the presence of massive objects. If I then wanted to fly to Alpha Centuri, I would set that destination into my nav computer and jump there using hyperspace instantaneously.Įdit: To clarify "Why not just use hyperspace to jump to a planet?" because that would be my thought as well. You won't be able to stop it or control it on that time. When the countdown is over, the ship will get to the hyperspace. Set the throttle on the 75 of the engines power and wait for the countdown. If I then wanted to fly to Pluto, I'd use supercruise and manually fly there very fast and slow down when I got close enough. When the ship's position will be alright, the screen will show the notice 'throttle up to engage'. If I wanted to dogfight around the moon, I'd use conventional engines. It requires you to steer and monitor your speed upon approaching your destination so that you dont over or undershoot your intended destination. It is used to navigate within a solar system to get from one planet to another. Supercruise, on the other hand, is basically steering at extremely fast (superluminal) speeds. You set a destination, turn on hyperspace, and you jump to that star system. It allows for travel from one star system to another almost instantaneously. The beta phase starts on may 30th and Im dangerously tempted (no pun intended) to drop the £100 to get access. No landing on planets until after the game is out though, which is a bummer. Hyperspace is essentially a space jump, like travelling through a wormhole. Just look at this: It also has a fully modeled galaxy with 400 billion stars, 'real' ring systems, and cool space stations for trading and upgrading your ship.
